Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
After your early morning breakfast, the driver will pick you from the hotel and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Bwindi is as well a good spot for birders; it has 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda. Along the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator where photos will be taken and a visit to the craft shops can be done if you are interested. Lunch in Mbarara and then proceed with the journey viewing spectacular scenery of kabala hills. Reach Bwindi in the evening and check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
Wake up early in the morning for a cup of tea/coffee, head to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and drinking water for a brief orientation about the dos and don’ts of the mountain gorillas before heading to the forest. Time taken searching for these gentle giants ranges from 2-8 hours depending on their movements from one place to another. When you finally get these gorillas take as many photos as you want, observe their behavior, check out how they network with each other and how they nurse their young ones. Later return to the lodge for late lunch and in the evening go for Batwa community experience.
Day 3: Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After your early morning, depart from Bwindi and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a park that is most popular as a tourist destination. The park’s diverse ecosystems include sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands making it an ideal habitat for classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds. The drive will take you through Ishasha sector greatly known for its climbing lions. Enjoy en route game drive and proceed to the northern part of the park for dinner and overnight stay. Day 4: Game drive – Boat cruise
After an early morning breakfast, set for an early game drive along the Kasenyi tracks to see herds of elephants, buffaloes,antelopes,warthogs ,spotted hyenas, mangoose, kobs and many more. Taking an experienced guide in the early morning or at dusk is the most successful way to track down a pride of lions, and may be even the odd leopard. Return for a full breakfast, relax and prepare for the next exciting activity in the afternoon. Have lunch and transfer to enjoy a unique two hour boat cruise on kazinga channel which is an oasis for many of the fascinating species that inhabit the park, and taking a boat tour along gives visitors the chance to cruise just meters from hundreds of enormous hippos and buffaloes while elephants linger on the shoreline. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure
After your early morning breakfast, check out and drive back to Kampala then proceed to the airport for your flight back home.
