Day 1: Hotel pick up – volcanoes national park
You will meet with your safari guide and take you through a short brief of the tour, highlighting places to visit, set out for a city tour where you will visit various places including places that portray the dark shade of Rwanda, the memorial genocide sites that hold deep history of Rwanda. memorial sites include Nyamata church, national museum and Kigali memorial site within the city. You will have lunch enroute and procced to musanze district about 2 hours drive, check in the lodge, optional evening/ nature walk out side the park. Dinner and overnight at mountain gorilla view lodge
Day 2: Mountain gorilla tracking experience-cultural walk
Rise up early, have breakfast, have the right trekking gear including your cameras for photographs and videos, pack enough drinking water and make sure you have your packed lunch. Your driver guide will drive you to Kinigi park head quarter for briefing about mountain gorilla rules and regulations, you will then be allocated a gorilla family in groups of 8 individuals. The Ranger guide will lead you to the forest and, embark on the memorable experience of getting up close with the mountain gorillas. When you finally meet them, utilize 1 hour allowed and take as enough photographs as you can, ask questions and the guide will be pleased to answer. After the experience, return to the lodge for hot lunch and refresh. In the evening you will visit one of the organized cultural groups who were once poachers but reformed, their performance and exhibition is alone amazing. You will learn about the cultural tradition ways of Rwanda include their dances, plays and storytelling. Dinner and overnight at the lodge refer day 1
Day 3: Transfer to lake kivu
Have a relaxed break fast and set out to lake kivu known for its white sand beaches, the lake is known to be bilharzia and crocodile free. Have a relaxed afternoon and boat rides on the lake including visiting fishing villages and interacting with the locals. You will also be able to spot some bird species like herons, African fish eagles among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge at serena hotel-lake kivu
Day 4: Lake kivu- Nyungwe national park
Early morning you will have breakfast, and set off to Nyungwe national park, which is one of the oldest forests in the region protecting 12 primate species like chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, owl-faced, patus monkeys, olive baboons among others. Other than primates the forest has a more exciting canopy walk experience. Lunch will be enroute and proceed reaching in the afternoon and later do a canopy walk at 2500 meters above in the forest where you get close view of the primate species like other small beautiful monkeys, and bird life like Rwenzori Turacco, black and white casqued hornbill. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe top view lodge.
Day 5:Chimpanzee tracking – Akagera national park.
In the morning you will have breakfast and your drive guide will take you to uwinka visitors center for briefing about the chimpanzee experience, trek through the tropical rain forest with your lead guide in search of the chimpanzees, where you will be able to spot a troop of about 100 individuals going about their day. Once you get to them, you are free to take pictures, videos while their making nest, jumping in the trees, and feeding their young ones. Return to the park center and transfer to Akagera national park, it will be a long drive with scenic views of plain and rolling hills, you will reach in the evening and check in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Ruzizi tented camp.
Day 6: Game drive and Viewing- evening boat cruise
Wake up early in the morning at 6:00 for the early morning game drive with chances to spot predators catching their prey. There are also chances to see the big five game in the plain woodland including a pride of lions, leopards, Blackrhinos, buffaloes and elephants, other mammal species to spot are elands, kobs, impalas, sitatungas warthogs, among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for afternoon boat cruise on lake Ihema where you will get up close to school of hippos, crocodiles and water bird species including the rare shoe bill stock, Giant Kingfisher, Senegal Lapwings, Squacco Herons, African Open bill stock, Grey Crowned Crane, African Darter, Long-toed and Water Thick-knee. Dinner and overnight at day 5.
Day 7: Departure
Have morning breakfast and have a guided nature walk to the neighboring communities where you will meet local people cattle grazing, milking and preserving their milk locally. Embark on the journey back to Kigali drop off at the hotel or airport for departure.
