The major highlight of this 7 days Rwanda tour will be the hike to Dian Fossey research center, cultural sites, Genocide memorial, game viewing and Gorilla tracking.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be picked from the airport on arrival or from your hotel by our professional safari guide/driver who will brief you on the journey before you set off to transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy a drive through the beautiful countryside with the rolling hills of this country as you head northwards to the Gorilla zone. You will check into the lodge on arrival in the evening, have your dinner and night stay at Mountain Gorilla view lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
Get up early in the morning on a nice breakfast at your lodge and drive off to the headquarters of the park to be briefed on the guidelines and hit the jungle to meet habituated gorillas in this park. You will be divided in groups of 8 people and each group follows a particular gorilla group as guided by the park staff. The experience will take 2 to 6 hours or sometimes the entire day as you track the gorillas. You will be allowed to meet the gorillas for one full hour as you watch them and take nice pictures of them. Return to the starting point after this amazing activity and head to the lodge to rest a bit and go for a community walk to interact with the locals and return to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla view lodge.
Day 3: Dian Fossey Hike
After the morning breakfast at the lodge, you will start the hike to the Dian Fossey research center in the forest. Dian was an American primatologist who dedicated her life for the sake of the Gorillas. She was however brutally murdered by poachers in 1985 but her legacy still remains in Rwanda. She spent many years habituating gorillas and learning their life style and this gave life to the gorilla tourism we see today in Rwanda. After visiting this place, you will return to the lodge. Dinner and night stay at Mountain Gorilla view lodge.
Day 4: Volcanoes to Nyungwe forest NP
After a morning breakfast, you will drive to Nyungwe forest t catch up with Chimpanzees our closest relatives sharing 98% of DNA with us humans. Nyungwe National Park is the largest protected montane forest in East Africa with swamps, woodland and grasslands. You will check in on arrival, have dinner and night stay at Nyungwe forest Lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking at Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and head to the forest in search the Chimpanzees. The chimps have been habituated and are used to the presence of human beings. You will have a chance to catch up with other primate species like the Angolan colobus monkeys, Grey-checked Mangabeys, Owl-faced monkeys and Blue monkeys among others. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe forest Lodge.
Day 6: Visit the Genocide Memorial
After the morning breakfast, you will depart Nyungwe forest and drive to Kigali city. Lunch will be in the city and visit the Genocide memorial site where remains of many genocide victims were buried. Stories of the dirty stories of how people lost their lives will be shared but it is beautiful to know that the country has recovered from this tragedy of 1994. Retire at the lodge for dinner and night stay at Kigali Marriot Hotel.
Day 7: City tour and departure
You will have breakfast at the lodge and check out of the lodge and head out for a short city tour. You will visit the craft shops for souvenirs and the local markets for a fruit and interact with the local people. You will then have lunch in the city and drive to the airport for departure.
