Bwenge Gorilla group
Bwenge is a Kinyarwanda word meaning “Wisdom”1` This group was named after Bwenge the dominant silverback that started the family in 2007 after being joined by another female group. Bwenge Gorilla family lives in the foot hills of Bisoke and Karisimbi mountains. The family happens to be one of the most famous gorilla groups in Rwanda since it appeared in the famous film Gorilla in the mist that was filmed by Dian Fossey.
Bwenge has a total number of 11 Members though after going through a great tragedy when it lost 6 infants to an accident but has since recovered with new births overtime. Our reservations team will make it possible to track the Gorillas in the Volcanoes national park in Rwanda. Just get to us through our Email and we’ll do all the reservations for you.
You will enjoy the great silverback Bwenge displaying his wisdom as he guides the group in their daily activities. Trekking this gorilla family is quite hectic but as the terrain of their habitat is unfriendly. You will need some level of fitness for you to enjoy your trip as you track these endangered apes.
