Mishaya gorilla group in Bwindi impenetrable forest got its name from its dominant silverback Mishaya who was part of Nshongi group. Mishaya left Nshongi gorilla group in May 2011 after several fights with other groups and that won him several females that enabled him to start a new family that was named after him.
Mishaya gorilla group is in celebration after they got a new baby Gorilla this month of March 2020 by the mother called Biretwa. Both the baby and the mother are in good health. The new baby brings the number to 23 individuals in this group. Some of the members in this gorilla group include; Bukunzi and Mwiza (the adult females), Mize, Rutaro(juveniles) among others.
Unfortunately, Mishaya died in 2014 due to unknown causes as he was found dead in the morning by park officials. Mishaya lived for 28 years and died after starting his own family. The group is found in the Rushaga sector and has been habituated for tracking by the visitors. This gorilla family is a available for tracking by the visitors and we will make sure you have an encounter with it if you contact us in time.

Gorilla permits can be booked throughout the year from UWA through a trusted tour operator. You will need to book your permits prior to the travel date to avoid missing on this exciting adventure. Due to the high demand for the Gorilla permits especially during the peak season, we advise that you book 3-6 or more months before your tracking date.
COST OF GORILLA PERMITS
A gorilla permits costs 600USD in Uganda but the cost has been revised by Uganda Wildlife Authority to 700USD effective 1st July 2020. Rwanda gorilla permits are at 1500USD per person, you can book through us and have an encounter with mountain Gorillas in the Virunga mountains of this country of a thousand hills.
