Rwanda announced the reopening of its tourism activities and the resumption of international travel for charter flights starting on 17th July 2020. Considering the health and lives of the travelers, Rwanda development board (RDB) has organized attractive comprehensive tourism packages for the Rwandan citizens and the foreign residents. This has been done together with private tour operators to showcase Rwanda’s great prettiness ranging from leisure, recreational experiences, mountain hikes and the serene landscapes.
The Chief tourism Officer at RDB said:

We encourage all travel enthusiasts and explorers to take advantage of this unique opportunity to venture out and experience the beauty and adventure that out country has to offer”.
Rwanda Development Board has special promotional offers available for you until 31st December 2020 and they include:
- Gorilla permits are now at 200 USD for all East African national residing in Rwanda including the Rwandan people and 500 USD for foreign residents arriving with Charter flights. This is a great offer from the normal charge of 1500 USD for tracking Gorillas in Rwanda’s volcanoes National Park.
- Special packages for individuals, groups, corporates and families have been prepared for you in the volcanoes and Nyungwe National Parks.
Measures put in place to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus as they resume the tourism sector:
- Rwandan residents planning to visit Nyungwe and Volcanoes National Parks must test negative 48hrs before they are allowed to proceed with the visit. A Covid 19 testing center has been established at Amahoro stadium in Kigali and several other testing centers will be communicated later.
- The cost of the Covid 19 test for the Rwandan residents and the foreign residents will be included in the parks permit prices.
- All travelers coming in by charter flights are expected to have tested negative for Covid 19 in the last 72 hrs. They’ll be subjected to another test on arrival before they are allowed to access the protected areas.
- Tourists who are not able to test from their countries can be tested on arrival and their second test be carried out after 48 hours.
- An optional test can be done on request before your flight back as an international visitor.
- Boat trips will be allowed to have a maximum only 6 people at ago.
- A maximum of six people will be allowed in a vehicle during the game drives.
- Tourists must maintain a 10meter distance from each other even wile visiting the primates in their natural homes.
- A group of only six (6), eight (8) and twelve (12) visitors will be allowed to track gorillas, Chimpanzees and Golden monkey families for 1 hour respectively.
- Vehicle tyres and the footwear for the visitors must be disinfected before they are allowed to access the protected areas.
