Genocide Memorial

Rwanda went through havoc in 1994 when there was massive killing of each other as the world watched without engaging to help. Nyungwe forest National Park

Nyungwe forest is one of the largest remaining montane forests in East Africa. It shelters Rwanda’s chimpanzees which have been habituated and can be tracked easily. The park is home to other species of primates and oldest plants which are seen as you search for the habituated Chimpanzee groups. Nyungwe forest is also Known for the rare Canopy walk suspended along its treetops. The 200 meter suspended walk way is one of the world’s wonders that you should never miss on you visit to this country of a thousand hills.

Volcanoes National Park

This park is home to the world’s most endangered primate specie the mountain Gorillas living in the high mountains. Tracking the mountain Gorillas is the major tourist activity in Volcanoes national park giving a great opportunity to visitors to get into close contact with these forest giants in their natural habitat. The Gorillas have been habituated by the authorities and are safe to watch without them changing their behavior or causing any threat to the tourists. Golden monkeys and mountain hiking are some of the other tourist activities that take place in this park.

Akagera National Park

Rwanda lost most of its remarkable wildlife during the chaos that happened in the 90’s which left most of their wild animals killed and others driven over the borders escaping to the neighboring countries. The authorities later re-introduced most of the animals to re-establish the lost treasures of nature into their natural habitat. Akagera is now home to the big five and the most sought after animals like the zebras, giraffes, Buffaloes, waterbucks, elephants, hippos, crocodiles and lions among others.

Lake Kivu

Located on the western side of Rwanda bordering DRC, lake Kivu is Rwanda’s major source of fish producing over 20000 tons of fish annually.
